Summary

After 8 weeks' study and blog writing, my ideas and thinking about entrepreneurship has really improved a lot. I think writing blog is helpful to my study because I have learned how to review every section of information system technology study and then come up with some new ideas about entrepreneurship which combine with each part of knowledge we learned.

Through first weeks, I learn about the social media and I think there are a lot of advantages of social media and it also has disadvantages like the privacy of individuals may be leak out by others. After professor introduce about the social media like Twitter and Facebook, I have learned that these can help people to find jobs, find opportunity, share news and interesting things. These make people's life colorful. Also, we can find some amazing ideas about the not only information technology, but also other aspects about business. I can exchange ideas with my friends and share the opinions.


Then we learn about the operating system and know the difference between windows7, Linux, Unix, Mac OS. I have known the development of operating system and which operating system we should choose for which device at what time. I come up with a idea that windows7 which insert the speak control system like the Siri of iPhone 4s so that people can control the system by speaking and windows7 is more compatible than Mac OS, people can type in command without type english words or functions. It is more accurate to send command to the system. 


In conclusion, learning more about information technology is a really good thing for us, for many aspects, google wallet, map, search change life a lot, it make life easy. OS make business more controllable  because people can manage the company by using the specific operating system so that they can analyze the profit and cost of product by using some applications software like Microsoft Office. Network can make people exchange information more conveniently. So if we learn more about information technology, we can find more interesting things and come up more ideas about entrepreneurship.

Recently, I heard about that Microsoft completed acquiring Skype with 8.5 billon dollars. I think that this is really a wise trade because after this trade, Microsoft can earn more profit of communication and can make itself more competive against with Apple and Google company.

Thomson Financial predicts that the fiscal first quarter of Microsoft company will reach 17.3 billion dollars and this Compared with the same period last year, Microsoft now face the effects of the slowing PC sales. And the Office 2010 raised the number of selling. This means Microsoft company will face the financial problem if it will not give some business decisions.

So Microsoft company acquired Skype can make Microsoft better because Skype can combine with the products of Microsoft such as lynx 2010 and Xbox Live and windows phone. Apple want to change the text fee to data fee so that users can use more application online and data fee is cheaper than text messages fee, more people are willing to use iPhone instead of other phones. So after Microsoft acquired Skype, It must raise the sell of windows phone because the convenient of using Skype and Skype has the advanced technology of communication and also it has the large group of users such as individuals, business group and so on.

Nowadays, people are comparing differences of the windows 8 with windows 7, they have difficult in deciding if they should upgrade the operating system. So the sales volume of windows 7 is not very stable. If Microsoft want to raise the sales volume, it must take the advantage of entertainment department because the product from this sells well like Xbox which is the most popular recreational machine.

In conclusion, I think if Microsoft want to interpret the sales volume, it should take the advantage of Skype, develop the group of customer base, insert the windows operating system into tablet PC and find some improvement of Yahoo search engine.

Network

This week i  will talk about the peer-to-peer technology. This technology is really useful and it makes people share the documents, communicate with each other, co-operate, manage the business more easily. 

But it also gives a problem. the company may be attacked by worm virus and the network is related so it may lead to the more loss. So I have a idea which can protect the whole company network. First, I will set the hardware network firewall under the router and it is controlled through Linux or Unix Server. The hardware network firewall must support hundreds or thousands of M bandwidth because the company consists of large group members. This is much safer than that with windows server. Manager can monitor the network condition as a list of documents. I think it is not enough to protect the company network. The company should set a constraint of upload and download speed so that the virus can not upload to outside within a little time period, people can find the virus or loophole as soon as possible and minimize the loss of company. 

Operating System

This week we learned about the operating system and some kinds of operating systems like Windows7, OSX, Linux, Unix. I analyzed the differences between Mac OS, Windows7 and Linux. For example, Mac OS is more useful for graphic dealing and the operating interface is more comfortable and cute for users. Windows7 covers almost all softwares so that it is compatible than other operating systems. Linux is also useful but its interface is not nice compared with window7 and Mac OS.


So I come up with a idea that windows7 which insert the speak control system like the Siri of iPhone 4s so that people can control the system by speaking and windows7 is more compatible than Mac OS, people can type in command without type english words or functions. It is more accurate to send command to the system. The blind people also can use this kind of system. Manager in the company can use this system to show the ideas about product instead of using  wireless mouse, they only need to speak "next page, open the video document or sign in someone's chart." It is really easy, isn't it? 

bits and bytes

This week we learned bits and bytes and some different and relation between them. Binary digital makes a lot of thing easier and it don't need too professional computer to run. Format wav and mp3 are also related to each other. Nowadays, mp3 format is used more often because of its smaller size and good quality. These characters all can be used in the real life.


 I have a idea that I can design a device that can monitor workers in the factory. The device use the way of binary digital. This way can make device simple so it is cheaper than the professional computer and also it is easy to count and process information.


For example, if the worker begin to work, he just need to turn on the switch so that the device can begin to run and count the working time. After one hour, it will be 0, after one more hour, it will be 1and so on.For instance,  when one worker arrive at factory, it will be 1, if he is late for working, it will be 0, and this information can be recorded. This information can be collected easily by device and the manager can compare this number with others' so that it can make workers work more efficiently, workers also may not be late for working. And while they are working, I can record their voice, I do not need to record what they said, I just need to know if they are working hard by recording the wave of their voice. The recording format will be mp3 because we only want to know if they are talking and how long they talked. And size of document will be small with low quality. This way not only can ask them to work harder, but also will not invade their privacy. So I think it is a possible idea to be applied in the future.

week 4: Idea about RFID and Google

This week we have learnt input and output devices. The most impressive points for me are RFID comparing with other barcode and some service which google supply for free. Yesterday I have read a piece of news and it says amazon sell kindles with losing 10 dollars per unit. And this can attract more people to shop in amazon help amazon to make more profit. I think this is really a good decision in business like google. 

I think the company can advertise itself by cutting down the price of production. Although Google supply many services for free like google map, google talk, google dictionary and so on. The Google also can make large amount of money by promoting its brand and popularity so that it can attract more advertisements from the whole of the world. It can give up some little profit and get more profit from other ways. I have a idea for google, I think google can product specific devices which only can be used to google wallet, google map. I think this can attract some company to co operate with it because google is really famous in the world. Although it have some risk of losing some users.

Then I have an idea that RFID must be spread all over the world because it has more advantages than barcode. I think the company can let more people use RFID for free and know the convenience of this production and then after people get to know about this, the company can promote the amount of producing product. Because the RFID is also cheap, the company do not need to lose too much money of new product promoting. 

New layout about computer for specific group of people

This week I have learned about the hard device. For example, motherboard, case, graphic cards, sound cards and so on. I think I have a idea about the company.


I think we can make a decision for the blind people or deaf and dumb. We can produce the computer which do not have monitor and graphic card for blind people because the blind people can not see the screen and only can control by voice command and keyboard. The computer should add a microphone into the computer so that they do not need to spend more more money buying the common computers as others. It may save some money. Also the similar decision is to remove sound card and microphone inside the computer. I think this is good to disables.

And although nowadays the information technology is more advanced, and the computer become more and more portable or they become more usable, they have more functions, they run faster and faster and they only cost not very much money, they are cheap. Company also need to buy some single computers because if the computers are too latest, the workers may use them play computer games, chat online, watch the movie and listen to music so that they can not concentrate on working. The workers only need to do working with excel, word, search the internet, make accounts. So the computers with single components and old design components are much cheaper than latest computers. I think this idea is necessary to the company.

Online banking and Word application software

I have a idea that we can use the online banking to make profit by buying and selling currency. Because we do not need to go outside and we just need to type the icon on the screen so that we can get to know the currency rate of US dollars, CNY and so on. It is easier for us to operate on the computer and it is lower risk compared with the stocks.

The online banking Is quite convenient. First because we do not need to pay too much agent fee and we also don’t need to go to the bank so that we can operate online almost everywhere such as airport, home, hotel, coffee shop and so on. We will not waste a lot of time because of this. Word application software is popular nowadays because it is easy for people to create and storage. People can storage documents on the storage medium like hard disk. If we need to hand in or give to others we just need to send a email or print it out.  

So, the final point I consider is that the company can employ graduations by making them do a presentation of themselves by create PPT documents. I consider the PPT can make me have a impression on them. For example, I can know their advantages and logic thinking and so on. Each page can tell me different points of people. Additionally, I can know if they are good at information technology because this will be more and more important in the future.

Manage business by computer

Nowadays, almost everyone knows the computer and Internet. Today I will talk about the question of How we can manage the business better. As far as I am concerned, we can do business for everything by using computers, not only for online bank, but also controlling the machine in factories, paying salary to workers, holding a meeting with managers and officers and so on.

As we know, computers have many advantages, we can deal with the data quickly such as business account  instead of employing accountant so that it will save some cost. Also, the accountant will spend much time to calculate sometimes they will make few mistakes, but the  computer won't, it is more accurate and faster. Compared with accountant, computers have large storage so that it can save more data to compare every month or every season, for example, the profit or loss of a company for a particular period. But the accountant can not do this easily.

Additionally, I think the computer is more durable and continuous. People are people, so they need to spend time resting and eating. But we don't need to worry about computers. They can work all the time and they are very efficient. We just need to employ a person to watch several monitors to know if the machine is running correctly.
